Editor's words: The process of learning photography and other arts, like painting and calligraphy has the beauty of different tunes rendering the same skill. First, we observe a lot, study, and imitate masters' famous works, letting the essence sink into our brain to gather enough experience, then we breakthrough to create our own. And at last achieve what Henri Cartier-Bresson said: "Photography is an instinctive gut reaction."
《库车大馕》 Kuqa Naan
观众留言:摄影师真实地记录了大馕制作的步骤,诠释了摄影的记录功能。这组照片的时间点把控特别好,人物的姿态非常生动。在一个老旧的环境中,摄影师选取了比较有序的场景进入图像,有主有次,重点突出,不显杂乱。摄影师在取舍进入画面的视觉元素方面经验丰富。
Viewer's Comment: The photographer truly recorded the process of making naan, exercising the documentary function of photography. The timing of this group of photos was well managed, and the gesture of the man is very lively. In the obsolete environment, the photographer selected a comparatively more organized scene for the image. The main subject and the accompaniment are clear, the focus is highlighted, and the images show little messiness. The photographer is experienced in keeping and giving up the visual elements that enter the photo.
《不舍》 Reluctant
观众留言:主题明确,题目贴切。女士难舍的面部表情,及与新兵相拥的状态,表达出分离时的不舍。而本作品精彩之处在于:新兵与女士相拥的同时,腾挪出左手与画面外的人手紧握,这画面外的人是谁?作品的内涵顿时丰富起来,摄影师看到了当时发生的一切,但是,他在取景时,故意只保留了一只相握的手,突出了不舍,也更是想让观众自己去思考画面以外的世界。另外,一红一绿衣服色彩的对比,模糊的旁观者的陪衬,都是这幅作品出彩的地方。
Viewer's Comment: The theme is clear and matches the title. The lady's reluctant expression and the motion of hugging the new recruit show the unwillingness to be separated. The highlight of this work: the recruit reached his left arm out to hold hands with another person outside of the frame while hugging the lady, who is this person? The content suddenly becomes interesting, the photographer saw everything happening. But when he was compositing, he purposely only kept the holding hands, demonstrating the sad emotion, aiming to have the viewers imagine what is outside. Additionally, the contrast between the camo and red cloth, and the blur of bystanders are all that make this piece of art great.
人物形成的几何形状有Henri Cartier-Bresson构图的影子,也有类似Garry Wingrand在时间把控中出现的巧合。
The geometric shape formed by the people has some shadows of Henri Cartier-Bresson' composition and Garry Wingrand's timing coincidence.
《杜布罗夫尼克》Dubrovnik
观众留言:安宁祥和景色,色彩很纯,画面很干净。灯光在水里倒影几乎呈现直线固定的静止的态势,而天上的云却是流动的动感的态势。摄影师取景在左侧保留了狭小的蓝色海面,让陆地上紧密的视觉感官出现一点舒缓。另外,摄影师在右下角保留的一点景色也是精彩的,以为只是看城、看天、看海,其实,这里还有故事,此刻,类似Robert Adams有过的取景方式出现了,刻意创造出画面外的未知。
Viewer's Comment: This is a calm and peaceful scene, the colors are pure, and the image is clean. The light's reflection in the water almost shows stationary lines, but the clouds in the sky are in the mode of motion. Viewer's Comment: In today's society, the story of parents mating for their children is very common, the photographer's framing of this ordinary thing is interesting. At the first sight, is the wooden pole, and suddenly Walker Evans' work's shadow comes to mind. "Like, but different" is a level in photography! What this piece of work recorded is something that the viewers can understand without any words but purely from the visual elements. In the aspect of the details of the story, it is for the viewers to imagine. The pole lies on the golden ratio, and the mother's head and the hand that is writing also lie on the ratio.
《焊接》 Welding
观众留言:这幅作品看起来很简单,就是记录了焊接工人辛苦工作的场景,其实视觉元素很丰富。摄影师不仅希望观众去关注明亮的蓝火及烟雾,四射的火星,工人弯身形成的形状,蓝色与背景橙色的对比;还利用一个细节来直击心灵,——工人鼻腔附近的一团气体,太生动,与蓝色火团冒出的烟雾正好和谐。优秀摄影师是创造“幻觉”的能手——至于这团气体是否因为天冷,是否从工人鼻腔呼出来不重要,重要的是摄影师让我产生了“误会”,从而被这张普普通通的作品打动。
Viewer's Comment: This work looks very simple, it is just a documentary of a worker welding, but it is in fact rich in the visual element. The photographer not only wants the viewers to focus on the bright fire, the smoke, the sparks, the bent posture of the worker, and the contrast between the blue and the orange color in the background but also on a detail that hits into the heart: gas near the worker's nose. It is so vivid and it coincides with the blue smoke. Great photographers are adept at creating "illusions". It is not important whether the gas formed because of cold weather or if it was breathed out by the man, what matters is that the photographer created a "misunderstanding" in me, and thus being moved by this simple work.
《开往秋天的小火车》 A Train to Autumn
观众留言:摄影师只截取了小火车一部分,形成了规矩的几何线条。这些直线条在左,红叶树枝、草的自由性的线条在右;小火车庄重的黑色与红叶,绿草明快的颜色,形成了两组有意思的对比:形与色。小女孩幸福地从小火车里露出半个身子,增添了整个画面的活力。小女孩在此是不是摆拍不重要,她只是整个场景中一个元素且恰到好处,摄影师让我们关注的是整个场景。
Viewer's Comment: The photographer only used a part of the train, creating organized geometric lines. These straight lines are on the left, and the free lines of the leaves, branches, and grass are on the right; the modest black formed two groups of contrast with the vibrant red leaves and the grass: shape and color. The girl happily leans out of the carriage, adding liveliness to the whole image. It does not matter if the girl is posing or not, she is just an element right on the point. The photographer focuses us on the whole scene.
《老师我知道》 Teacher, I Know
观众留言:小男孩举手形成的形给人印象深刻。摄影师取景角度记录了天真无邪渴望知识的亮眼睛,男孩手里拿着铅笔恰好与举起的右手形成的呼应,同时,还记录下“余”字这个细节。小男孩左手压着的可能是一个新书包,故事又留给观众去想象了。平凡的题材,用摄影师的灵感去挖掘出新意。
Viewer's Comment: The boy reaching his arm gives a deep impression to people. The framing angle records his innocent eyes that are craving for knowledge. The pencil in his hand echoes with the right arm, at the same time also taking in the character "Yu" as a detail. It might be a new backpack that is under the boy's left hand, the story is again left for the viewers to imagine. An ordinary topic is renovated by the photographer's inspiration.
《人生路》 Life Path
观众留言:老幼形成对比,以树林为背景,衬托出摄影师想表达的意境。整个画面疏密有致,重点突出。一对老人正好被安排在黄金分割线上。
Viewer's Comment: The old and the young form a contrast, and the woods are used as the background to bring out the artistic conception that the photographer wants to express. The whole picture is well arranged, and the focus is prominent. The old couple is just arranged on the golden section line.

Viewer's Comment: This work is similar to the "Parents'Arrangement" it records textual symbols to set off the topic. The photograph is made in black and white, giving a sense of suppression from life. The person in the house and the man standing formed a triangle, each posture expresses helplessness, especially the man sitting on the sofa, showing only the head and a portion of the body.
《一块好肉》 A Piece of Good Meat
观众留言:这幅作品的一些小细节挺好的!摄影师保留了销售车的品牌,增加了视觉的元素,丰富了感官。摄影师透过销售车的后视镜把自己记录下来了吗?类似Lee Friedlander 喜欢的方式之一,只是摄影师在此运用得比较含蓄。
Viewer's Comment: The small details are great in this work! The photographer kept the brand of the cart, adding visual elements and enriching imagery. Did the photographer record himself down through the mirror of the cart? This is similar to one of the ways that Lee Friedlander likes, but the photographer is more reserved.

Viewer's Comment: The composition is well managed. The old man's position forms many organized geometric shapes from the visual elements with the golden ratio. The boat and the triangular water surface on the bottom left with the green rope dangling into the water are quite delightful. The yellow scissor on the right side of the boat is not extra but a coincidental detail.

Viewer's Comment: Shooting at the shadow in the mirror is a preferred way of Lee Friedlander. The character's costume is already memorable, the shadow in the mirror and the line formed by the actor's arm, together with the decoration of the cloth and the curve lines of the makeup harmonize the image. The position that the photographer framed and the time he pressed the shutter clearly recorded a "hardcore" character.
