Susan Meiselas is an American documentary photographer. She was born in 1948 in Baltimore, Maryland. She went to middle school in New York. In 1970, while she earned a Bachelor's degree from Sarah Lawrence College in literature, she obtained a Master's degree in visual education from Harvard University. She started to cooperate with Magnum Photos in 1976.

From her works, there are records that imply mass graves. It seems like there is a cut next to the road, a ditch. During the civil war in Africa, there are a lot of places like this. When looking at Meiselas's works, it is easy to connect to an old news report about a man caught by a group of patrols. When the soldiers are investing the prisoners, he realized that they are going to kill him, so he begged, cried, and fell into the ditch. When he was begging, he was killed by a soldier with a machine gun. Watching a captured person die is very annoying, it brings up imaginations of murdering scenes from movies.
