Divided by a single expanse of the sea.

君住海上我住山，距离相隔万重山。
相思永隔大洋水，一海守望思不断。
问我思君多少愁，恰是大海浪翩翩。

You dwell by the sea, while I reside in the hills,
Separated by myriad mountains that stand still.
Our longing spans the vast ocean's expanse,
Gazing across the sea, thoughts never cease to dance.
If asked how much sorrow fills my heart for you,
It's like the surging waves, ever fresh and new.
